Our laboratory is developing a device (heart-on-a-chip microdevice) to detect human cardiac function with high sensitivity by applying iPS cell technology and Organ-on-a-Chip technology for the purpose of drug discovery research. Collaborative research agreement has been signed with Stem Cell & Device Laboratory, Inc. (SCAD) (Kyoto, Japan) (President: Kensuke Kato) for the aim of establishing a system to detect cardiotoxicity in newly developed drugs.
The development of the heart-on-a-chip microdevice is supported by the Laboratory for Integrated Biodevice, RIKEN BDR (Team Leader: Yo Tanaka) and the RIKEN Program for Drug Discovery and Medical Technology Platforms (DMP).
