RIKEN BDR signs MOU with Shinshu University for research and educational collaborations

The RIKEN Center for Biosystems Dynamics Research (BDR) signed a memorandum of understanding effective July 1, 2021, with Shinshu University’s Graduate School of Science and Technology and Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering with the aim to promote both collaborations and cooperation between these institutions by leveraging their respective strengths in research and education as well as human resources. On the same day, a separate institutional educational partnership was also signed between RIKEN and Shinshu University to establish a joint graduate school program, which allows RIKEN to host graduate students enrolled in the University’s graduate program in laboratories at RIKEN.
Three BDR team leaders, Wataru Kimura (Lab for Heart Regeneration), Yuji Sugita (Lab for Biomolecular Function Simulation), and Yo Tanaka (Lab for Integrated Biodevice), will serve as specially appointed faculty members at Shinshu University and play a central role in leading the active exchange between RIKEN BDR and Shinshu University in research and education to foster the next generation of scientists.
