Team Leader Hamada Receives Hyogo Prefecture Science Award

Hiroshi Hamada, team leader of Laboratory for Organismal Patterning, was awarded the 2020 Hyogo Prefectural Science Award at a ceremony held at the Hyogo Prefectural Hall on November 10, 2020.
Hyogo Prefecture awards prizes in four categories, for culture, for science, for sports, and for society, to honor people who have contributed to the promotion of the culture of the prefecture, the improvement of science and technology, the promotion of sports, and the creation of a brighter community.
Dr. Hamada was recognized for his research on “left-right asymmetry of the body plan” as well as his contributions to maintaining a high level of research and regional collaborations as director of the former RIKEN Center for Developmental Biology.
On receiving the award, Dr. Hamada commented, “If I have made a small contribution to scientific research originating from Hyogo Prefecture, I could not be happier.”
