One of the pathlogical components of Alzheimer's disease, the tau protein,is a
microtubule-associated protein localized to the axon in neurons.
Interestingly, in neurons of patient's brains, tau accumulates and aggregates in the
cell bodies and dendrites. In this seminar,I will present our unpuplished data regardeing
how tau properly localizes to the axon in normal and discuss what might cause the accumularion of tau in the wrong place in pathological conditions.
